  I have eaten at the Riverhouse several times over the years since it opened and have often had to wait but the delicious, fresh cooked food, was always worth waiting for. But this lunchtime was an absolutely dreadful experience! I organised a meal out for 9 friends. Everything that could go wrong did. A ridiculously long wait to order drinks, which were wrong. We ordered main courses only and waited an hour for them and then they didn't all come together. The fish and chips were good apparently, but the other dishes were poor and definitely not worth the money. We ordered 4 desserts and 6 coffees which all came at different times. My dessert was last to arrive and the waitress appeared from the kitchen with it and took it to another table. She was then confused when told they hadn't ordered it and started to take it back to the kitchen so I had to call across the room that it was mine! We were given desserts but nothing to eat them with and when we asked they brought soup spoons! I watched a waiter accidently knock a clean dinner fork onto the floor off an empty table and pick it up and just put it back onto the table. The place was full of people all waiting and some sending food back. I queued to pay behind 2 other customers and both complained bitterly about everything, as I did myself. The explanation from the man on the till, who appeared to be in charge, "we're changing things over this week". I said that was fine but the customer shouldn't suffer and he agreed but didn't apologise! I told him there was no tip and he'd just lost 9 customers. I have left out a lot of detail about the food and service, just dreadful!

  Sunday roast was reasonable, menu wasn't great for gluten free though. They couldn't say what was gluten free or not, I had to order then have the chef check, which meant I ended up the person in our party unable to have a starter. Service wasn't great, our drinks arrived at the same time as the food, despite seeing staff standing around at the bar.

  Beautiful location, good menu but didn't quite live up to initial expectations - hard to define what was wrong but it felt like somewhere that was once excellent but is now struggling a little.

  Worst Restaurant ever. Waited for 1.5 hours and the food was awfull. Fillet steak was full of fat , burgers uneatable , crust on pork not existing...and so on. Stay away !!!
